I live in Queensland - the Sunshine State - in Townsville which is a small city on the east coast about 24 hours north by road from Brisbane and 4 1/2 hours south of Cairns. We have over 300 days of sunshine a year and have a great little island just off the coast called Magnetic Island which is popular with locals and backpackers. We only have two seasons - the wet and the dry!
